As if it was a follow-up to my entry on 25th Oct 2007, I found, in MindYourBody 31th Octobter 2007 issue, an article on friendships based on utility.
Relationships at work are normally friendships based on utility, it says.
Have you ever experienced being treated as if you were invisible and then, the next moment, their best buddy? If you think that is bad, think again.
More lethal and less noticeable would be those that appear to be on good terms with you while habouring hopes of gaining certain privileges. Friendships based on utility.
Are these really friendships?
By definition, they are. But, deep within you, would you really consider someone, who is friendly towards you, a friend when he/she is there because of your usefulness?
